PORT DICKSON – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today described the move by an Umno MP to withdraw support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as a wise decision, considering the current circumstances.

The opposition leader said any effort to form a new government under a different leadership must be given consideration, especially after the current administration’s failures.

“The current government is weak. It is unable to address the issue of Covid-19, the economy is slow, investments are not coming in, and much more. Its only solution seems to be giving out money and positions to certain politicians.

“I feel this needs to stop. There must be more political stability that is able to set the country’s direction more effectively. This is to save the nation, and not just the position of one or two individuals.

“So, if the wisdom and decision of certain MPs who feel that enough opportunities have been given to the current leadership (indicate) that we should move on with a new one, then, I feel it is appropriate that this be given attention and consideration," he told a press conference here today.

The PKR president was asked to comment on the decision of Machang MP Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub to withdraw support for Muhyiddin, leaving the prime minister with just 110 MPs on his side out of the current total of 220.

Jazlan’s Umno colleague, Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, told The Vibes yesterday that more lawmakers are expected to follow suit.

He has called a special press conference tomorrow evening, where he is rumoured to make a similar announcement. – The Vibes, January 11, 2020
