MIRI – Sibu will go under a full movement control order (MCO) starting midnight tonight after it turned into one of the most serious Covid-19 hotspots in Sarawak.

Today, another 43 new cases were recorded in Sibu, out of the 60 new cases reported across the state for today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Dougglas Uggah said the MCO in Sibu will go into effect until January 29.

"The full MCO in Sibu will see the enforcement of all guidelines and SOPs as spelled out by the National Security Council," he said.
   
With the latest cases, Sibu Hospital is now treating 494 Covid-19 positive patients.

In Miri, 10 new cases were recorded today, while Kuching has five and Kanowit two.

Miri Hospital today is treating 193 Covid-19 patients.

Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, meanwhile, is treating 100 patients and Bintulu Hospital 35.

The total number of cases recorded in Sarawak now stands at 1,980 with 19 deaths. – The Vibes, January 15, 2021
