MIRI – Another Covid-19 death is reported in Sarawak today, its fifth consecutive day of logging new deaths.
The state Disaster Management Committee today decided to extend the movement control order (MCO) to February 14 for districts of Sibu, Kanowit and Selangau, and conditional MCO for the rest of the state.
Committee chairman Datuk Amar Dougglas Uggah Embas said the latest death involved a 74-year-old man in Sibu Hospital.
There are 70 new cases today in the state, he said at a press conference in Kuching.
Uggah said out of the 40 districts, only 11 remain green zones, while eight are red and the rest orange and yellow zones.
“The war against the virus in Sarawak is far from over. We need everyone to play their part.
“The frontliners are doing their best but the challenges are tremendous.
“We have never faced such a severe health crisis before.”
As of today, Sibu Hospital have 1,036 Covid-19 patients, Miri Hospital (278), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (165), Bintulu Hospital (98), Kapit Hospital (46), Sarikei Hospital (14) and Limbang Hospital (1). – The Vibes, January 27, 2021
