KUALA LUMPUR – The sudden spike in the daily tally of Covid-19 infections caused by the reporting of a backlog of cases is expected to last for only one week.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the ministry would still need to report the numbers, even though it came in late.
“The delay must be studied and we will look into how it (the daily tally reporting) would be improved,” he was quoted by RTM as saying.
He said the ministry also was looking into clearing the backlog of cases, especially in Selangor where 8,871 positive cases were recorded in the past three days since Friday.
Dr Noor Hisham was attending the Emergency Management Technical Taskforce meeting with Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mohktar in Kuala Terengganu.
He said that the task force will look into the management of Covid-19 cases in all states, adding that states such as Terengganu will focus on localities following rising infection rates in the state.
Meantime Dr Noor Hisham said that the Covid-19 vaccines, which will arrive in the country on February 26, will be distributed in the span of one to two weeks. – The Vibes, February 1, 2021
