MIRI – Sarawak recorded two new deaths due to the coronavirus today, taking the death toll to 80.

The two fatalities involve a 54-year-old man in Bintulu Hospital and a 59-year-old man in Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching.

The state Disaster Management Committee said the Covid-19 infection rate in the state is still high as there are 250 new cases and 26 active clusters.

As such, the conditional movement control order in the state has been extended for another two weeks to March 15.

Sibu recorded the highest number of new cases today at 104, followed by Kuching (43), Kapit (39), Meradong (13), Samarahan (11), Bintulu (10), Miri (eight), while other districts have less than five.

Sibu Hospital has 1,097 Covid-19 patients, while Miri Hospital has 208; Kapit Hospital, 207; Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, 379; Bintulu Hospital, 272; Sarikei Hospital, 197; and Sri Aman Hospital, 25.
