MIRI – Sarawak has postponed the opening of the school year for another two weeks to March 15.
The decision was made by the State Disaster Management Committee and the State Education Department.
In a joint statement, they said the decision was made in view of the surge in the number of Covid-19 cases in places like Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Samarahan as well as rural districts like Kapit, Meradong and Sarikei.
The agencies have also set up a special task force to handle schooling issues arising from the pandemic.
