Second day of zero Covid-19 deaths for Sarawak

MIRI – Sarawak did not clock in any new Covid-19 fatalities today, marking the second day that the state did not see any coronavirus-related deaths, said the Disaster Management Committee secretariat.

This means that the current death toll stayed steady at 83, spread across 25 active Covid-19 clusters state-wide.

However, as far as new infections go, 159 positive cases were identified today in Sibu district (52 new cases), Betong (49), Kuching (18), Bintulu (15), Miri (9), and several other districts (less than 8 cases each).

It added that at present, Covid-19 patients were receiving treatment at Sibu Hospital (1,004 patients), Bintulu Hospital (323), Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching (312), Miri Hospital (201), Kapit Hospital (187), Sarikei Hospital 160, Betong Hospital (93), and Sri Aman Hospital (35).

The secretariat again reminded people in Sarawak that the war against Covid-19 in the state is far from over, and that the rakyat need to help the authorities by obeying all standard operating procedures that are in place to stop the chain of infections. – The Vibes, March 2, 2021
