KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 309,687 account holders in the Klang Valley will have to deal with water cuts again, as raw water pollution was reported in Sg Semenyih, according to a statement from Air Selangor.

The water treatment plants in Sg Semenyih and Bukit Tampol temporarily ceased operations earlier today.

Some 274 areas – including Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang – will be affected.

At a press conference, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari says he was informed that the source of the pollution was 30km from the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant.

More specifically the cause of the pollution was detected in Sg Batang Benar, Negri Sembilan.

Amirudin added that he was contacting the Negri Sembilan MB to jointly resolve the issue.

Below is the link to the official press release from Air Selangor:

“Air Selangor has activated an Emergency Action Plan to help affected customers following this incident,” said Elina Baseri, Air Selangor’s head of communications.

Air Selangor has lodged a report with Lembaga Urus Air Selangor to identify the cause of the raw water pollution at Sg Semenyih and nearby tributaries.

"Air Selangor will provide updates on the incident from time to time on all platforms, especially the media.“
