Fight over old grudge sees man killed in Bangsar

KUALA LUMPUR – A man was killed and his friend seriously injured in a fight, believed to be over an old grudge, in Bangsar’s Jalan Telawi 2 yesterday.

Sanjeet Kumar Morthi, 28, of Batu Caves, Gombak, died while receiving treatment at University Malaya Medical Centre.

His friend is being treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

Brickfields district police chief Anuar Omar, in a statement, said the incident occurred about 1am when Sanjeet and his friend, who were walking to a parking lot, came across a group of men.

“The victim died due to being slashed on the body with a knife and stabbed with a bottle. He fled towards the nearby shopping mall and fell in front of a convenience store.

“His friend took him to hospital, but he died while receiving treatment.”

The incident was recorded by passers-by, and the clip shared on social media.

Anuar said the fight is believed to have stemmed from an old grudge between the victim and one of the men in the group.

Police have identified five people suspected of involvement in the incident and are tracking them down, he said. – Bernama, March 14, 2021
