KOTA KINABALU – The government officer who was recently detained for allegedly soliciting sexual bribes will be transferred immediately while waiting for further proceedings to be taken by the authorities.

In a statement, the State Secretary's Office said it seriously viewed media reports of the detention of a district-level head of department on suspicion of soliciting sexual bribes.

“The state government places great emphasis on the integrity and conduct of state civil servants, as explained in the Sabah State Public Officers Regulations (PPPANS) 2008.

“Accordingly, officers who violate any rules or engage in any activity contrary to the rules and laws will have action taken upon immediately in accordance with the rules and laws.”

It said the officer will be changed immediately while waiting for further proceedings to be taken by the authorities.

The Sabah Public Service Department said it would provide full cooperation to Sabah MACC in this investigation.

“The state government is strongly committed to addressing such issues to increase public confidence in the integrity of civil servants and the transparency of departmental service delivery.” – The Vibes, March 20, 2021
