KOTA KINABALU – Despite Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin’s assurance that a damaged section of a flyover in Luyang here will be immediately repaired in January, no such work has been done, said a Sabah DAP leader.

Luyang assemblyman Phoong Jin Zhe told The Vibes that Bung Moktar, who is also state public works minister, has not fulfilled his promise to repair a dislodged slab on the flyover since January 21.

“They haven’t done anything yet. It’s too slow. There are no workers there for the repairs. Public Works Department officers have promised Bung Moktar that they will fix it, and he acknowledged it.”

Phoong said the department had pledged to complete the repairs in a month’s time, but now it has been two months, yet the engineering defect is still very much visible.

“One of the flyover’s lanes remains closed, and Bung Moktar has yet to give me a response.”

Phoong and Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin were present when Bung Moktar conducted a site visit at the flyover several months ago.

In January, a piece of the concrete slab along the flyover got dislodged due to heavy rain, and engineers from the department gave their word to Bung that they will fix the problem in a month’s time.
