KUALA LUMPUR – Umno and Bersatu can never share the same pillow because both parties have different dreams, said Wanita Umno head Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad.

The women’s wing, she said, remains clear in supporting the stand made by the Umno Supreme Council in February to reject cooperation with Bersatu for the 15th general election.

“Even though we are now part of the government, it does not mean that it is a ‘green light’ for this temporary government to act as it pleases,” she said during her policy speech at the Wanita Umno assembly here today.

Noraini, who is currently the higher education minister in the Perikatan Nasional-led government, said the wing also rejects any cooperation involving DAP and PKR.

“Of course this decision would bring political implication to the Malays but Wanita Umno feels that we will have to continue to support the decision made by the party grassroots and leadership,” she said.

“Even though I am (in the Perikatan Nasional government), all actions, all decisions that can tarnish the people’s trust, are not necessarily complied with by Umno,” she said.

In contrast to previous years, the Umno general assembly this time runs for just two days and is also being held in line with the government’s Covid-19 rules in place. – The Vibes, March 27, 2021
