MIRI – A 33-year-old man here is one of Sarawak’s two new Covid-19 fatalities today.

The other victim is a 61-year-old man, who died at Bintulu Hospital.

The latest fatalities push up the state’s death toll to 107.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat confirmed the death at Miri Hospital.

“He was brought to the hospital because he was suffering acute respiratory problems on March 28. He also had high blood pressure.

“After he was brought to Miri Hospital, his condition worsened, and he died the same day. His test today confirmed that he died of Covid-19.”

While the state’s report indicated the victim’s age as 33, the report by the federal Health Ministry said he was 34.

Both Miri and Bintulu districts are in northern Sarawak.

The state also logged 153 fresh infections, with 33 in Miri and 18 in Bintulu.

Sibu has 40 cases, followed by Kuching (20), Meradong (11) and other districts (fewer than 10).

There are 33 active clusters in the state, said the secretariat. – The Vibes, March 30, 2021
