MIRI – The Covid-19 pandemic in Sarawak has claimed another two lives today, taking the death toll to 112, with one death recorded in Sibu Hospital and another at Bintulu Hospital.

The state also recorded 217 new infections.

The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said the latest coronavirus fatalities involved a 79-year-old woman in Sibu Hospital and a 51-year-old man in Bintulu Hospital.

"The two latest deaths from Covid-19 bring the cumulative death toll in the state to 112," the secretariat said in a press statement today, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims.

The secretariat said active tracing is still being carried out in all the 36 active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, 193 patients were discharged.

Bintulu district recorded 74 new infections, followed by Sibu (46), Miri (30), Kuching (28) and Julau (10). Other districts registered fewer than 10 new cases.

The secretariat once again stressed the need for everyone to obey all the SOPs in place. – The Vibes, April 2, 2021
