MIRI – Sarawak today sees three more Covid-19 deaths and 595 new infections, bringing the state’s death toll to 156.

The state Disaster Management Committee secretariat said Bintulu Hospital recorded two deaths – a 75-year-old woman and a 86-year-old man – while Sarikei Hospital reported the death of a 65-year-old man.

The state also has two new clusters, it added. The new clusters detected today are Putai in Bukit Mabong, which involves 243 construction workers, and Rayang in Serian, with 50 villagers.

The total number of clusters in Sarawak stands at 58.

Out of the 595 new infections, Mabong district recorded 199 cases, followed by Sibu (84), Bintulu (80), Kuching (39), Miri (24), Kapit (23), Lundu (20), Kanowit (19), Mukah (19), and Serian (16), with the rest logging fewer than 10 cases each.

The secretariat said three longhouses in Pakan district – Rumah Matthew, Rumah Dinggai and Rumah Giman – will be placed under enhanced movement control order starting tomorrow for 14 days. – The Vibes, April 25, 2021
