China foreign minister’s 2-day visit kicks off tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be in Malaysia on a two-day official visit starting tomorrow.

He will discuss with his Malaysian counterpart, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, the progress of China’s Covid-19 vaccine development, enhancing economic cooperation and boosting bilateral ties.

“They are also expected to discuss regional and global issues of common concern,” said a statement by Wisma Putra today.

The visit will be conducted in full compliance with standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry to combat the coronavirus, it said.

Among the SOPs are:

– Swab test to be taken three days before arrival;

– Second swab test to be taken at the airport upon arrival;

– Delegates will be escorted from the airport to the hotel, and then to the event venue and the airport again for departure, following a controlled itinerary; and,

– Delegates can only fly using private aircraft.
