KUALA LUMPUR – Five districts in Kedah – Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Bandar Baharu, Baling and Kulim – will be place under the movement control order (MCO) from tomorrow to May 14, said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The comes after the Health Ministry recorded a total of 709 cases in the five districts. The MCO has been imposed to also stem the spread of Covid-19 to other districts as the state is experiencing a rise in infectivity rate, and hospital and lab capacity.
Meanwhile, the enhanced MCO (EMCO) has been imposed on Kg Skim Cocos and SMK Madai – both in Kunak, Sabah, from tomorrow until May 14. The Health Ministry found eight infections after screening 186 residents in Kg Skim Cocos while the school has 18 cases following the testing of 185 boarders and nearby villagers.
Similarly, the EMCO will be imposed tomorrow onwards for two weeks on Kg Sagah, Jalan Sg Tengah Matang in Kuching, Sarawak. Of the 148 screened, 17 were positive for Covid-19.
Ismail also extended the EMCO for SM Sains Machang in Kelantan until May 14.
The EMCO for Taman Mesra Bako in Kuching and Kg Tengah in Betong – both in Sarawak – will end tomorrow. Taman Hilltop, Taman Bukit Bintang and Taman Berkley in Tawau, Sabah, will also see the EMCO lifted tomorrow. – The Vibes, April 30, 2021
