KUALA LUMPUR – Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin will hold a joint press conference tomorrow on the latest developments of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
Both ministers will address the media at 12.30pm at the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force office in Putrajaya.
While the presser is a routine update on the programme, the ministers are expected to address technical issues related to the voluntary AstraZeneca vaccination bookings today.
The media was notified of the presser via an invite which was distributed this afternoon.
However, only six media agencies were allowed to be physically present at the conference.
This was due to a directive set by the National Security Council to limit the number of media personnel to 15 people in the venue.
The media agencies invited are RTM, Bernama Wires, Bernama TV, TV3, Astro Awani, and TV Alhijrah.
Other media outlets are expected to join the event via video conferencing.
The registration drive, which was launched at noon today was met with certain glitches after droves of applicants flooded the the Special Committee On Covid-19 Vaccine Supply’s website.
Many of the applicants claimed they were unable to register for the inoculation, adding that while options to choose the preferred date and vaccination centre appeared, no confirmation was received once they clicked “submit”.
“The server is congested.
“We are aware of the problem and we are rectifying the issue right now,” a committee official, who requested anonymity, told The Vibes.
On Twitter, Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the coordinating minister for immunisation programme, said that at about 3.20pm, all of the 260,000 slots to receive the AstraZeneca vaccines were taken up.
The overwhelming traffic on the site has caused a few problems, he added. – The Vibes, May 2, 2021
