GEORGE TOWN – Penang is willing to accept whatever Putrajaya decides with regard to the movement control order (MCO), said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He told a press conference today that the state will abide by any decision announced by the federal government to curb the spread of Covid-19.
A report submitted by the Health Department showed a total of 17,246 people in Penang have been vaccinated against the coronavirus as of yesterday.
“The rate of vaccination depends on the capacity of vaccination centres as well,” said Chow.
He said 3,421 people were vaccinated at the Caring Society Complex here, while 1,500 received their jabs at the Balik Pulau Sports Complex.
On the mainland, 4,924 individuals were vaccinated at Dewan Millenium in Seberang Prai Utara district, SP Arena in Seberang Prai Tengah (3,263) and Dewan Serbaguna in Jawi, Seberang Prai Selatan (4,136).
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has rubbished rumours that a third MCO will be imposed on several states and cities seeing Covid-19 surges.
