9-month-old sodomised, post-mortem reveals; babysitter’s hubby arrested

PETALING JAYA – A post-mortem carried out on a 9-month-old, who died on April 27 at hospital, revealed that he was sodomised, allegedly by his babysitter’s husband.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the victim is believed to have died of suffocation after his mouth was smothered by the suspect, who was on drugs.

“During the incident, the babysitter was cleaning the living room. She left the baby alone with her husband in a locked room for two hours, before finding the baby unconscious,” Fakhrudin told a press conference at the district police headquarters yesterday.

“The victim was taken to hospital by the babysitter’s husband, who said he was the infant’s caretaker.”

The post-mortem also found bruises on the baby’s mouth, believed to have been caused by the act of smothering, as well as tears on the anus, believed caused by a blunt object.

Police arrested the babysitter and her husband, both 36, at their house on April 29. Both tested positive for syabu.

Fakhrudin said the man is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, as well as Section 377C of the same code, while his wife will act as a prosecution witness and may be charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In another case, police have arrested a 24-year-old student on suspicion of killing his friend of the same age at a parking lot in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, on Sunday.

Fakhrudin said the victim’s body, which was full of stab wounds, was found at a construction site next to the building where the suspect lives in Damansara Perdana.

“The investigation found that both of the suspect’s hands had injuries, believed to be due to him having a fight with the victim. The suspect received 100 stitches at a private medical centre.

“A urine test showed that the suspect was positive for tetrahydrocannabinol.

“Police were able to locate the suspect’s bloodstained clothes, believed to have been worn during the incident.”

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – Bernama, May 12, 2021
