KUALA LUMPUR – Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has been issued a home surveillance order (HSO) after being categorised as a “close contact” by the Health Ministry.
However, the Rembau MP clarified that he has done a PCR test, the result of which was negative.
Khairy had volunteered at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre vaccination centre over the weekend.
“Have been issued an HSO to self-isolate for 10 days after being categorised as a ‘close contact’ by @KKMPutrajaya,” he said in a post on Twitter, referring to the Health Ministry.

“Will update if status changes since I volunteered at PPV WTCKL over the weekend,” said Khairy, who is the coordinating minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
On May 15, he had said that individuals who plan to get vaccinated are not allowed to enter immunisation centres if they are patients under investigation, close contacts of Covid-19 patients, or patients under surveillance.
He added that patients who are not able to enter these immunisation centres would have their vaccine sessions rescheduled, given the risk that they could infect others.
Today, Khairy also announced that the next AstraZeneca opt-in will open on May 23, available to those above 60 years in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sarawak, and Johor – states where infections remain high.
Bookings will be available online and at community clinic outreach centres, he said, adding that vaccines would also be sent to elderly care homes. – The Vibes, May 17, 2021
