MIRI – Sarawak saw five more Covid-19 deaths today including two men who collapsed and died at their homes.
There were also 706 new infections and a new cluster in the state.
The two who died at home were a 56-year-old, who was brought to the Sri Aman Hospital, and a 49-year-old, who was brought to Sibu Hospital.
“They were found unconscious by their families at home and medical teams who rushed there found them already dead.
“Tests confirmed they died of Covid-19,” said the state Disaster Management Committee in a statement.
The other deaths involved a man aged 69 in Sarawak General Hospital, a 43-year old man in Sibu Hospital and a man aged 49 in Miri Hospital.
“The five more confirmed Covid-19 deaths have brought the total death toll to 316 today,” the committee said.
Kuching district recorded the highest number of cases at 167 while Sibu had 115 new cases, Miri (113), Bintulu (40), Sri Aman (50), Kapit (43), Samarahan (32), Subis (27) and numerous districts below 20 new cases each.
The committee said a new cluster was found in a factory in Kuching.
“The Jalan Muara cluster in Kuching involves a bird-nest factory.
“15 workers tested positive so far,” the secretariat said, adding that there were now 77 clusters statewide. – The Vibes, June 4, 2021
