MIRI – Five more individuals have died due to Covid-19 in Sarawak today, including two men in their 30s, bringing the death toll to 351 in the state.

The youngest victim was an obese 31-year-old man in Sarikei Hospital.

The others were an obese 37-year-old man, who had diabetes and high blood pressure, and a 54-year-old woman from Ulu Baram in Miri Hospital. Another two victims – a man, 76, and woman, 80 – died in Kapit Hospital.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said there are 544 new Covid-19 cases in the state today, with Kuching logging 85 infections.

Bintulu recorded 77 cases, followed by Sibu (63), Miri (46), Saratok (33), Mukah (29), Sri Aman (27), Dalat (26) and Sarikei (25), while other districts have fewer than 20 each.

Several longhouses have been placed under the enhanced movement control order for two weeks from tomorrow.

The affected settlements are Rumah Belayong and Rumah Fabian in Bintulu; Rumah Chali (Bintulu-Miri border); Rumah Umang (Pakan); Rumah Empawi, Rumah Itam and Kg Dagang (Tatau); and, Kg Tabuan Drahman (Kuching). – The Vibes, June 13, 2021
