MIRI – Sarawak today logged 744 new Covid-19 cases, five deaths and two clusters involving longhouses.

The five fatalities involved three men aged 50, 55 and 56 in Sibu Hospital, as well as an 85-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman in Sarawak General Hospital.

Sarawak now has a Covid-19 death toll of 356.

Of the new cases today, Kuching recorded 121 cases, followed by Bintulu (103), Tatau (84), Sibu (63), Kapit (52), Sarikei (47), Subis (45), Song (44) and Meradong (26), while other districts have fewer than 20 each.

The two clusters detected today are the Sg Sentebu cluster in Sarikei, which involves 48 longhouse folk and stems from a Gawai Dayak celebration, and the Ulu Sangan cluster in Tatau, which has 12 cases, so far, due to a longhouse gathering.
