PUTRAJAYA – The Home Ministry today announced the implementation of the nationwide Op Patuh to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedures in the economic sectors allowed to operate during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said this follows the National Security Council’s decision on Monday to let the ministry lead and coordinate all aspects of SOP enforcement while the movement control order is in force.

Speaking to the press, he said Op Patuh will focus on the abuse of approval letters to operate issued by ministries and government departments.

He said mobile roadblocks will be mounted in industrial and manufacturing areas identified as Covid-19 hotspots.

To ensure effective monitoring, he said, enforcement agencies’ assets, like helicopters and drones, will be used.

Hamzah said the ministry has inspected 123,469 businesses and 21,219 factories from June 18 until yesterday, with 885 compounds issued, 265 premises ordered closed and 39 individuals arrested for non-compliance with the SOPs. – Bernama, June 25, 2021
