KOTA BELUD – A 30-year-old man was found filing a false police report claiming to have been robbed by two men, in a desperate attempt to stop his wife from demanding a divorce.

The husband from Kg Pirasan here visited the district police station here around 9pm last night to report the supposed robbery by two unknown men, further claiming that they had sped off with his motorcycle.

Going through details with him, police officers suspected something amiss as his story did not add up.

They then interrogated him, leading him to break down and reveal the real reason for lodging the report.

Kota Belud district police chief Sahimi Hussin said: “He brought police to the place where he hid his motorcycle and explained that his actions were aimed to save his marriage.”

However, matters got worse for the man when police asked him to undertake a drug test, which turned out positive for methamphetamine.
