BUTTERWORTH – Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor has dismissed a video of his press conference in which his voice was altered to make comments blaming the government for failing to handle the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, last night, Noorzainy said the video of the altered press conference has been circulating on social media and whilst his actual press conference has no relation with the audio and video containing the politically-charged comments.
“We have lodged a police report on the matter and the investigations will narrow down the people responsible for the unethical act,” he said.
Noorzainy added that his June 2 press conference in Sg Dua was during a joint operation with other government agencies on compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Penang governor donates one-month salary to state Covid-19 relief fund
GEORGE TOWN – Newly appointed Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak has donated one month of his salary to the state’s Covid- 19 relief fund to assist efforts to help those suffering during the pandemic.
This was revealed by Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim following his courtesy visit at the governor’s official residence, Seri Mutiara, here.
On social media, Sim stated that Fuzi had queried him about the state’s Covid-19 management and status of the economy.
“The governor also shared a few pointers on the priority to hasten the vaccination drive, coordinate the welfare aid and to rebuild the economy.”
Sim also praised Fuzi for providing his insight on managing Covid-19.
Both Sim and Fuzi are alumni of the Bukit Mertajam High School, which also counts PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as part of its alumni.
Citing the school’s motto of Aut Coepisse Noli Aut Confice (Accomplish Or Do Not Begin), Sim said that he will convey the input accorded by Ahmad Fuzi to his elected colleagues.
Three new Covid-19 deaths in Miri, one in Sibu
MIRI – Sarawak saw four new Covid-19 deaths today, three in Miri Hospital and another in Sibu Hospital.
The state Disaster Management Committee said the deaths in Miri involved a man aged 63 without comorbidities and two women aged 71 and 79. The death in Sibu Hospital was of a man aged 59.
This brings the state’s death toll to 426.
Meanwhile, one new cluster was recorded today – the Pagar cluster in Serian district, which saw 12 Indonesians and two locals in the Serian police lockup infected.
There were 281 new infections with Kuching district recording 57 new cases, Sibu 40, Sri Aman 32, Miri 7, Bintulu 17, Mukah 18, Telang Usan 14, Kapit 11 and numerous other districts below five new cases each. – The Vibes, July 8, 2021
