SIPITANG – A man known as “the doctor” believed to be the mastermind behind the district’s drug syndicate has been arrested here.

The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department and Sipitang police arrested “the doctor” along with two accomplices at an unnumbered house in Kg Pasir here at 11.30am on July 8.

This followed weeks of observation and public tip-offs of the man’s activities.

District police chief Champin Piuh said police picked up the two men, and found methamphetamine packed in plastic packets of various sizes inside a box in the house, during the raid.

The arrests of the duo then led to the arrest of “the doctor”, who is alleged to be the syndicate’s mastermind.

“One of the arrested is known as ‘the doctor@Ajak’ and he is allegedly involved in drug distribution while his two accomplices are members of his syndicate.

“The suspect allegedly sold the drugs in 5g and 500g packets, fetching between RM20 and RM5,000 in Sipitang,” said Champin, adding that Sipitang police may have crippled a major drug operation following the arrest of “the doctor”.

He said police also seized RM10,000 worth of methamphetamine.

While checks found that the suspects do not have criminal records, all the men tested positive for drugs when arrested, he added.

Champin said the mastermind, in his 50s, and his accomplices, in their 30s, are being detained for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act. – The Vibes, July 13, 2021
