KOTA KINABALU – Police believe they have smashed a drug distribution network with the arrest of two men, who were caught for allegedly trafficking more than 2kg of syabu here on Sunday night.
The two men, in their 20s, are from Sarawak and alleged middlemen of the drug syndicate. They were delivering drugs to a buyer at a mall here when caught by police.
A total of 2,092.7g of syabu, with a market value of RM72,000, were seized.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the suspects, who were inside a parked Toyota Vios, refused to open the door for officers.
“The two men refused to open the door when they were told to surrender. Police had to break the window of their vehicle to arrest them.
“Police found drugs wrapped neatly in a plastic bag with the words ‘Guan Yin Wang’ to elude suspicion.
“We believe the suspects were raking in up to RM1,000 a transaction depending on the quantity of drugs they deliver.”
He said the duo may also be supplying drugs to several adjacent districts.
The men have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty. – The Vibes, July 27, 2021
