SHAH ALAM – During a surprise visit to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), Klang, yesterday evening, Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, promised more specialists, oxygen, ventilators and medical equipment urgently.

In a Facebook post today, Klang member of Parliament (MP), Charles Santiago, said Dr Adham announced the initiatives when he was accompanying him on the visit.

Santiago also said that Mercy Malaysia will be constructing a 100-bed facility at HTAR to accommodate more patients.

During the site visit that lasted almost two hours, Dr Adham spoke to patients, doctors and HTAR’s management.

“Patients sitting outside the emergency department told him that they had been sitting there for a couple of hours without food, while some said that food was provided.

“The minister then made arrangements for 400 meals to be brought in,” said Santiago.

He said he hopes the minister’s initiatives will be implemented within a fortnight because they are key to saving lives.

“(I) would like to thank the minister for the unscheduled visit to HTAR, a commitment he made in Parliament two days ago,” he added. – Bernama, July 30, 2021
