KUALA LUMPUR – The police questioning of five #Lawan protest organisers has been pushed to tomorrow, said lawyer Rajsurian Pillai.
The time has yet to be confirmed.
Following yesterday’s rally, police said five individuals would be questioned at 10am today.
It is understood that they are Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat activists Mohammad Alshatri Abdullah, Mohd Asraf Sharafi Mohd Azhar and Tharma Pillai, as well as Undi18 co-founder Qyira Yusri and Suara Rakyat Malaysia executive director Sevan Doraisamy.
Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah told the press yesterday that although the #Lawan rally was peaceful, it violated Covid-19 rules prohibiting mass gatherings.
He said action will be taken against both organisers and participants.
The protest saw a turnout of between 400 and 2,000, with the authorities and organisers giving different tallies.
The demonstrators were not allowed into Dataran Merdeka, the original protest venue, but they continued the rally along Jalan Tun Perak.
