KUALA LUMPUR – Walk-ins for the Covid-19 vaccination is available only to Klang Valley residents for now, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, in a press conference today, said this option is open only to those who have yet to get their first jab and do not have any appointment in MySejahtera.
More than three million senior citizens have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while another 2.25 million have been fully vaccinated, he added.
On booster shots, Khairy said: “No decision has been made yet.”
He said walk-in vaccinations for senior citizens who have yet to receive their first dose appointment will start next week nationwide.
The minister, in his weekly press conference, said announcements will be made by each state’s Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) soon as walk-ins for the Klang Valley starts today.
“On the federal level, we have decided that states can start the walk-in initiative for senior citizens who have not received their first dose appointment.
“We will leave it to the states to announce the implementation dates and the vaccination centres (PPVs) that will be available as walk-in PPVs.
“Some states have already started; some will start soon.”
‘40% of adults to be fully vaccinated by Aug 31’
Khairy, who is also science, technology and innovation minister, said every state will be able to achieve a threshold value of 40% of the adult population fully vaccinated by August 31.
“We will use two criteria to distribute the vaccines to each state to rebalance the distribution to states that are recording low vaccination rates.
“First is that we distribute vaccines to states with a surge in positive Covid-19 cases and secondly, we distribute to states with low vaccination rates.
“This is to ensure by this August, all states will be able to catch up with each other, in hopes that they will be able to achieve a threshold value of 40% of its adult population fully vaccinated on Independence Day.”
The current Klang Valley PPVs where walk-ins are accepted are:
- KL Convention Centre (HCO F, HCO G dan HCO H)
- Bangi Avenue Convention Centre
- Hotel Wyndham, Klang
- Dewan Tun Razak, Sabak Bernam
- Dewan Komuniti Serendah
- Movenpick Hotel Convention Centre KLIA
- Ideal Convention Centre, Shah Alam
Walk-in vaccine recipients need to bring their MyKad, driving licence, utility bill or credit card bill to confirm their addresses, as well as work pass, student pass, agreement or other valid documents.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry in a tweet today said the only PPV available to non-Malaysians for walk-in vaccinations is the Bukit Jalil National Stadium starting August 9.
“This walk-in is on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis and depends on the PPVs’ vaccine capacity supply.
“Those who wish to walk in will be included in a ‘waiting list’ to come back the next day if the supply on that particular day has run out.”
It added that those with comorbidities are required to bring relevant documents, such as treatment and appointment cards. – The Vibes, August 2, 2021
