A 16-YEAR-OLD Form Four student has been ordered by the Magistrate's Court in Batu Pahat to undergo three years of detention at Henry Gurney School after pleading guilty to raping a 15-year-old female acquaintance.
Magistrate Mustaqim Sukarno issued the order, which takes immediate effect, after the court was satisfied with the teenager's guilty plea and considered a social report prepared by the Social Welfare Department.
The teenager faced three charges of raping the girl in Batu Pahat between 5pm and 10pm on Dec 31 last year, March 22 and May 17 this year.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
However, as a juvenile offender, the court was empowered to impose alternative sentences, including a good behaviour bond, a fine or detention at Henry Gurney School.
According to the facts of the case, the victim lodged a police report alleging that the accused had taken her to his house, where he raped her.
She claimed the teenager raped her on three separate occasions after taking her on outings around Senggarang.
Investigations found that the accused had brought the victim into his house through the back entrance to avoid the knowledge of his family members.
Police later arrested the teenager at his home following investigations.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nur Shazleen Ibrahim, while the accused was unrepresented. - August 5, 2026
