KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Rosni Sohar resigned as a National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) management board member effective yesterday, reported Bernama.

Rosni, who is also Umno Wanita secretary, in a statement said her decision is in line with the party’s stand to withdraw support for the Perikatan Nasional government.

She expressed her gratitude to all PTPTN staff for their cooperation during her tenure.

On Friday, Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad stepped down as higher education minister.

Noraini, who is Parit Sulong MP, thanked the prime minister for her appointment, but said she will obey the directive issued by the Umno Supreme Council.

Boustead Plantation Bhd independent and non-executive director Abdul Aziz Julkarnain also resigned from his post on the same day.

Boustead Plantation in a filing with Bursa Malaysia said the 43-year-old Sabah Umno Youth chief was appointed as a board member on September 1 last year.

Last Tuesday, Umno’s Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah quit as energy and natural resources minister, after taking into consideration the party decision and stand.

“As an obedient and loyal member of Umno, I hereby resign as a federal cabinet member.

“My focus now is on my duty as Lenggong MP, and to assist in strengthening the party as it faces an increasingly challenging political situation.” – The Vibes, August 8, 2021
