KUALA LUMPUR – Those who have completed their Covid-19 vaccine regimen and have passed the two-week threshold, can start going on vacation tomorrow if they are in regions under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry said in a statement today that fully jabbed residents under Phase 2 will be allowed to access hotel or homestay services.

“Tourism activities within the same state will be allowed for homestays or hotels, for individuals who have received full vaccination.

“Homestay and hotel services would have to make sure those entering premises show their digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate, proving that they have received two doses,” the ministry stated.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri thanked Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for announcing more privileges for the fully vaccinated, as it allows some form of relief for the tourism industry that has been affected by the pandemic.

She added that the gradual reopening of the domestic tourism sector gives hope to tourism operators in light of the Tourism Recovery Plan outlined by the ministry.

Nancy also urged those who plan to go on vacation, to continue their compliance with the SOPs. Yesterday, Muhyiddin announced a range of perks for the fully vaccinated during the NRP.

The benefits for people under Phase 2 of the NRP includes; home quarantine for arrivals to Malaysia, interstate and inter-district travel under Phase 2 of the NRP, interstate and inter-district travel for long-distance spouses and parents who want to visit their children below 18-years-old, allowing Muslim and non-Muslim houses of worship to accept congregants in line with standard operating procedures.

While Phase 2 also allows fully vaccinated adults to enjoy dine-ins, as well as non-contact sports and outdoor activities with social distancing. – The Vibes, August 9, 2021
