KOTA KINABALU – Former state conservator of forests head Datuk Sam Mannan has been appointed as Yayasan Sabah Group deputy director.
He reported for duty at his office in Menara Tun Mustapha here yesterday.
Mannan, 64, will be assisting Yayasan Sabah Group director Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan in his daily duties. He is a University of Canterbury graduate, and holds an honours degree in forestry science.
Ghulam Haidar said Mannan will bring to the job a wealth of knowledge that his years of experience have afforded him.
“As a well-experienced civil servant, Mannan will be actively involved in various Yayasan Sabah Group programmes.
“With a vast knowledge of forestry and conservation, and an extensive network of international bodies, his appointment will significantly assist the group and its conservation efforts.”
In his many years as a practising forester, Mannan has briefed Prince of Wales Prince Charles on Sabah’s sustainable forest management at St James Palace in London, the United Kingdom, in 2011.
The state Forestry Department was also honoured a similar audience at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in 2012. – The Vibes, August 10, 2021
