TAMPIN – A poultry farm in Air Kuning Selatan, Gemencheh near here has been given a week starting yesterday to clean up its sewage system, which is believed to have caused pollution in Sg Air Kuning.
Negri Sembilan Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Datuk Bakri Sawir said the directive was issued following public complaints on the pollution, suspected to have been caused by the disposal of wastewater from the farm into drains.
“The owner of the farm has been given seven days to clean up and upgrade the sewage system,” he told Bernama today.
“The state Veterinary Services Department will conduct a follow-up visit to the farm after the seven-day period ends, and enforcement action will be taken against the owner if there is no improvement.”
On Sunday, residents lodged complaints after finding the carcasses of animals believed to have died due to the water pollution. – Bernama, August 10, 2021
