KUALA LUMPUR – At the ripe old age of 111, Seliman Anak Bandang has entered the Malaysia Book of Records for being the country’s oldest living man.
During the announcement on Facebook Live yesterday, his grandson Michael told viewers that Seliman’s secret to longevity is living a happy and stress-free life.
“Michael added that the family prepare balanced meals for him as well,” said the Malaysia Book of Records in a statement.
Seliman, who was born on March 21, 1910, said his sweetest memories are of watching his children grow up and seizing the opportunities of an ever-evolving Malaysia.
“He also said he is very proud to see the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak being built and nearing completion,” said the statement.
Malaysia Book of Records marketing director Jwan Heah said Seliman is lucky to have witnessed the changes that the country has gone through.
“It must be an amazing experience to be able to witness and be part of the monumental changes of the past 100 years.
“Not many in this world are able to share such stories.”
Seliman, a member of Saratok’s Mulok Klua longhouse tribe, is also possibly the nation’s oldest Covid-19 vaccine recipient. – The Vibes, August 28, 2021
