GEORGE TOWN – Former chief minister Lim Guan Eng’s sister Lim Hui Ying will get to extend her senatorship for another term while PKR’s Mohd Yusmadi Yusoff will be replaced when his term expires.

Yusmadi’s replacement will be Fadhlina Siddiq, daughter of the late Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil. Siddiq was a former Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (Abim) president.

Lim and Fadhlina will be Penang’s nominees. 

Fadhlina was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman while Lim was proposed by Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy.

Fadhlina, 44, will replace Yusmadi whose term expired on August 26, while Lim will continue her service for another three years.

Fadhlina, who was born in Petaling Jaya, is a lawyer and PKR Women’s Law and Community Development Bureau chairman.

Yusmadi was appointed senator in August 2018, and the former Balik Pulau MP was also elected as the first Dewan Negara Caucus chairman in 2019. – The Vibes, September 1, 2021
