KUALA LUMPUR – A crisis is brewing among the ranks at Negri Sembilan’s PKR, as its members voice their loss of confidence for the party’s state leader and menteri besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
In a statement jointly signed by state PKR leaders, including branch chiefs, assemblymen, Youth and Women’s wing chiefs, they said the current situation at the state party level will threaten their chances in the next election.
Dissatisfaction among the ranks also centred on an allegation that the party’s state elections committee (JPRN) caused “confusion” when shaping the state’s election machinery.
Further, the statement touched on matters affecting the party’s Women’s wing leadership, stating that women have been prevented from conducting activities to unite voters while stressing that female voters contributed to half of the mandate that saw them seize the state government in the last polls.
On issues related to the party’s Youth wing, they noted the lack of activities to pool young voters into the party.
“The party’s state leader also does not see the importance of young leaders and conducting activities that could pull youth into the party ranks.
“This happened because the state Youth chief was appointed without winning any position in the last party elections.
“Thus, the Youth leadership is seen by party members as failing to strengthen the party in the state,” the statement read.
It added that the state party leader has shown no interest or enthusiasm in ensuring better management of Negri Sembilan PKR.
The group accused Aminuddin of not caring whether or not PKR remains the dominant party in the state government.
“There is no holistic planning towards the growth or efforts in ensuring better management of the party on the state and branch levels either.” – The Vibes, September 6, 2021
