KUALA LUMPUR – The PKR assemblymen who openly opposed the Negri Sembilan menteri besar have been accused of trying to work with Umno to oust Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Aminuddin’s special officer Datuk Romli Ishak said since PKR took over the state government in 2018, there have been efforts by certain groups within the party to topple his boss, and this includes cooperating with members of the Barisan Nasional lynchpin.
“However, the bid was unsuccessful due to the strong support for the menteri besar from the state’s Pakatan Harapan leadership and a large number of divisions.
“The issues are the same: ranks, placements, posts, projects, and other related matters,” said Romli in an opinion piece published by Media Rania this evening.
“There is no relation to the people’s issues, state development, administrative reforms, or party consolidation at the divisions and branches. The excuses given in the press conference and the documents spread are merely allegations and personal disappointments that do not at all involve the principle of party struggle.”
He was referring to members of the Negri Sembilan PKR leadership who, in a statement, said they no longer trust Aminuddin to lead the party in the state.
These reps cited several reasons, including his failure to plan and strengthen the chapter ahead of the 15th general election.
The statement’s signatories said Aminuddin also failed to pay attention to the Women and Youth wings, and showed no effort to turn PKR into a dominant unit in Negri Sembilan.
If the situation is not resolved, they warned, the party risks losing the state come the elections.
Among the signatories are Labu assemblyman Datuk Ismail Ahmad (Rasah PKR chief), Sri Tanjung assemblyman Datuk M. Ravi (Port Dickson chief), Ampangan assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Rafie Ab Malik (Seremban deputy chief), Chuah assemblyman Datuk Yek Diew Ching, state PKR Women chief Amni Idris, state PKR information chief Yusuf Tapar and several Youth leaders.
Romli said those at the press conference on Monday hold posts, and they should use their positions to strengthen the party and state government instead of criticising their own menteri besar.
“The party and (state) government are not based only on the chairman and menteri besar, but are a combination of the leadership of all (PH) parties collectively.”
Yesterday, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said Aminuddin has been summoned by the party leadership to explain his position after losing the support of state chapter members.
He said the unrest in Negri Sembilan PKR, which is threatening to boil over and destabilise the state government, will be among the issues taking centre stage when the party’s top leaders meet this week. – The Vibes, September 7, 2021
