KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the graft case involving Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun has been closed after investigations found no wrongdoing on her part.

In a written parliamentary reply to Hannah Yeoh (Segambut-PH), the prime minister said no action was taken as the matter is considered resolved.

“Investigations found no elements of corruption that could be proven.”

Yeoh in Parliament today asked about the status of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission probe into Rina.

On Facebook, she criticised Ismail Sabri’s response as being too brief.

“This is the standard of answers given by the government to a parliamentarian who asked about Rina Harun. Three lines including ‘Sekian, terima kasih’.”

Earlier this year, several quarters, including the opposition, called for Rina to be investigated after she settled debts totalling millions to a Paris-based film production company.

Reports indicated that she had owed the firm RM1,340,642.02 as of November 17 last year, according to a statement of claim.

Opposition MPs had called into question her ability to settle the sum, based on the asset declaration she made to MACC that is available for public viewing. – The Vibes, September 14, 2021
