KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 14,990 Covid-19 cases, making for 2,142,924 since the start of the pandemic, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
In a statement, the health director-general said the country also logged 19,702 recoveries, bringing the total discharged to 1,917,088.
Only five of the new cases are imported, he said.
Separately, the ministry's CovidNow website stated 334 deaths seen today, including 84 brought in dead (BID) cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said there are currently 1,115 cases under intensive care, while 618 required breathing assistance.
Selangor leads with 2,414, followed by Johor (1,880) and Sarawak (1,712).
Kelantan saw 1,573 cases, Perak (1,490), Penang (1,224), Sabah (1,199) and Kedah (1,007).
Terengganu logged 852 infections, Pahang (688), Kuala Lumpur (338), Melaka (313), Negri Sembilan (170), Perlis (97), Putrajaya (30) and Labuan (3).
Out of the total 14,990 cases reported today, only 338 cases (2.3%) are in Categories 3, 4 and 5, while 14,652 (97.7%) were in Categories 1 and 2.
Dr Noor Hisham said the country has seen a total of 5,354 clusters, including 26 clusters today.
Clusters that have ended are at 4,048, while 1,306 remain active.
He said 13 of today’s new clusters are related to workplaces, seven came from the community, five from education institutions, and one from a high-risk group.
The cluster with the lowest cases is the Kg Batu Karang Hulu community cluster in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, with seven cases, while the Batu Empat Tapah workplace cluster in Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, Perak Tengah, and Kampar, Perak, saw the highest infections at 131. – The Vibes, September 22, 2021
