ALOR STAR – Kedah Menteri Besar Muhamad Sanusi Md Nor today stressed that he will not change his character just to satisfy some parties.

Sanusi said he just wants to be himself and will not put up an act in front of anyone.

“I like to joke, so it’s up to others if they want to take it seriously or not.

“I’m not an actor. I’m me. I don’t need to provide answers (for being me). For me, joking is my therapy to relieve stress,” he told a press conference today.

In the state assembly sitting today, Datuk Ismail Salleh (Pengkalan Kundor-PH) had rebuked Sanusi for some of his controversial statements, especially on the issue of freezer containers to hold the bodies of Covid-19 victims last month.

Ismail, who is Kedah Amanah chairman, also criticised Sanusi for violating standard operating procedures by test driving a vehicle at a showroom in Juru, Penang, last June.

Sanusi added that criticism against him should not be debated in the state assembly because it does not involve the interests of the people.

“I don’t think it should be brought to the conference because it is not a place to criticise other people’s personalities. We need to focus on the people’s issues,” he said.

Yesterday, The Vibes also reported that state Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Johari Abdul openly rebuked Sanusi in the state assembly session, following frequent controversial statements from the Jeneri assemblyman.

Johari also asked Sanusi to control himself when making open statements as he represents the image of the state and its people. – The Vibes, September 22, 2021
