KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob handed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a letter of confirmation today, upgrading the latter to an opposition leader with ministerial amenities, said DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke.
In a Facebook post today, the former transport minister said that the move was in line with the historic memorandum of understanding signed between the government and opposition shortly after Ismail Sabri assumed office in September.
He said the letter was given before a meeting held at a parliamentary conference room to discuss the implementation of reformed agendas agreed upon by both parties.
“There will be several amendments to the federal constitution, which will be tabled in the upcoming parliamentary sittings,” he said.
Loke said meetings such as the one between Ismail Sabri and Anwar will be held on Mondays every two weeks.
“Meetings like these will bring a new political culture to our country,” he said.
“Although there are political differences between parties, we can still sit down together for discussions and find commonalities in the interest of the country,” he said. – The Vibes, October 11, 2021
