KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is said to be brokering a quid pro quo deal with Perikatan Nasional partners Umno and PAS in a bid to cement his position in tomorrow’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Sources told The Vibes that the deal requires an Umno minister to intervene during the sitting and table an urgent motion of confidence on Muhyiddin.

And if Muhyiddin gets enough votes then this will negate the 25 motions of no confidence that have been filed against him by other MPs.

In return, sources say Muhyiddin will agree to renew the political cooperation terms of his PN alliance with Umno.

The bargain purportedly includes a cabinet reshuffle that will likely see a deputy prime minister’s post and the finance portfolio going to Umno.

Later in the meeting, it was said that another suggestion is to have an Umno minister expedite the confidence motions already filed by Arau MP and Umno Perlis chairman Shahidan Kassim, and Pasir Puteh MP Datuk Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh of PAS.

PN leaders have gathered at Hilton Kuala Lumpur this afternoon for a pre-Parliament meeting.

It was reported that Muhyiddin was seen entering the hotel at 12.20pm.

Other leaders spotted are Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his PAS counterpart, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Parti Bersatu Sabah president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, MCA’s Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and MIC’s Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran. – The Vibes, November 1, 2020
