KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional leaders, including Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, are at Hilton Kuala Lumpur this afternoon for a pre-Parliament meeting.

Malaysiakini reported that the prime minister was seen entering the hotel at 12.20pm.

Several leaders arrived earlier, among them Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his PAS counterpart, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Also in attendance are Parti Bersatu Sabah president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili, MCA’s Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong and MIC’s Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran.

The meeting comes a day before Parliament reconvenes, with Budget 2021 set to be tabled on Friday.

Wee told reporters: “This is a normal meeting before Parliament sits tomorrow.

“We usually meet one day before Parliament starts to discuss the (Dewan Rakyat) meeting agenda.”

Muhyiddin’s government has a razor-thin majority in the Dewan Rakyat, and the prime minister has faced several challenges since taking office in March, including opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claim to have the backing of at least 120 lawmakers to take over Putrajaya.

Last weekend, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong rejected Muhyiddin’s bid to declare an emergency over Covid-19 and called on all MPs to give their undivided support to the Budget, saying it is key to aiding efforts against the pandemic. – The Vibes, November 1, 2020
