PAS has no plans to meet or engage with the unity government, said its vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

“We have never sent any delegation to meet or discuss any matter with the unity government,” he said as reported by the New Straits Times.

Even if any meeting were held, he stressed that it would be on administrative matters and not political direction.

“Any meeting in parliament or other meetings are merely in our capacity as members of parliament or state assemblymen.

“Such meetings should not be classified as a political discussion,” he said after the Terengganu assembly meeting.

Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that there had been requests from the opposition to meet him and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over possible cooperation for the next general election.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man responded immediately, saying the party had no information regarding any requests from opposition leaders to meet with Anwar and Zahid.

He said the party had never authorised any of its leaders to engage in such discussions.

“PAS remains steadfast with its coalition partners in Perikatan Nasional and believes that the future of a better country, ‘a new Malaysia’, should be built upon the existing political cooperation,” said Samsuri, who is also Terengganu menteri besar. – July 30, 2024
