KUALA LUMPUR – Transgender cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat will make an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January after a TikTok viewer asked her about her travel plans.

Nur Sajat shared a short TikTok video using her account @sajat.issa where she explained her plans to head to Singapore.

Aside from those plans to visit Singapore in February, Nur Sajat said she will be flying to the US in January for an appearance on the popular American talk show hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

“In January, I will be going to the US for The Ellen Show,” she said.

She added that she has no plans to return to Malaysia and that she feels “safe, happy and free” in Australia.

Nur Sajat, who has a large social media following, has been a controversial figure in Malaysia.

She was detained in Bangkok on September 8, with the Malaysian authorities seeking her extradition on charges of insulting Islam as she had worn a baju kurung at a private religious ceremony in 2018.

If convicted, she could face a maximum fine of RM5,000 and jail time of up to three years.

Nur Sajat previously claimed that she was sexually assaulted when she was detained by Malaysian religious authorities.

She has sought and been granted asylum in Australia in October. – The Vibes, November 24, 2021
