KUCHING – Bersatu’s Datuk Ali Biju is standing as an independent candidate in the Krian state constituency, despite the party’s expressed decision to not run in Sarawak.

This was announced by his aide Vernon Kedit to the Sarawak media via a WhatsApp message.

“He is now in the nomination centre with his proposer and seconder.

“We do not know yet how many candidates are contesting in Krian,” said Vernon.

Ali is Sarawak Bersatu vice-chairman and a federal deputy energy and natural resources minister.

According to Vernon, he has not resigned from Bersatu.

Last week, Bersatu chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the party will not participate in the state polls, instead supporting incumbent Gabungan Parti Sarawak. – The Vibes, December 6, 2021
